Weather of Arabia - The city of Al-Ula in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed the achievement of a new record in the Guinness Book of Records under the title of the largest night show of luminous balloons in the world, which was achieved by Al-Ula Moments in partnership with the Saudi Balloon Federation (Sahab) on the first of March 2022 near the site of Archaeological stone.

The balloon event is one of the most prominent events of the AlUla Sky Festival, as it attracts many interested people from around the world in this event, who have unique experiences, by flying in the sky of AlUla, and enjoying the picturesque nature and cultural heritage of the province.

The Sky of Al-Ula Festival, which extended until the twelfth of this March, is the third season of Al-Ula Moments. In December of last year, the Winter at Tantora Festival was launched, followed by the Al-Ula Arts Festival, then the Al-Ula Sky Festival, and the activities of the Al-Ula moments conclude with the Rest and Recreation Festival.

The number of balloons that lit up the sky of Al-Ula reached 142 air balloons, breaking the festival with this number, its previous record of 100 balloons in 2019. The festival also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate and the Saudi Balloon Federation (Sahab), aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two parties to be Al-Ula. It is worth noting that the Saudi Balloon Federation launched a training program to qualify balloon pilots. The Federation sent 3 trainees to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to obtain a European Professional Balloon Pilot License (EASA), to fly the balloon within the practical path of the Sahab program to train balloon pilots; In order to develop the talents of practitioners of balloon sport in the Kingdom, which will aim, in partnership with the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate, to attract 100 balloon pilots through a training program, which will receive registration requests in the second quarter of this year.

The effectiveness of the balloon and its achievement of this record twice, in line with the tourism objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, to promote tourism to be an important tributary to the Kingdom, to very rich destinations such as Al-Ula, which is the largest open living museum in the world, in addition to investing in the development of human capital, as a main pillar of the pillars development.
