Britain: Creation of a stick to facilitate wheelchair use
ArabiaWeather.com - British students have created a wheelchair control stick based on 3D printing technology, according to the "Digital Trends" website.
It is interesting that the 3 students did not reinvent the wheelchair again, but rather added to the traditional wheelchair the stick that allows the disabled person to push and brake the wheels with complete ease, thus relieving pressure on his hands and shoulders.
The young men succeeded in winning the first prize in a technical innovation competition, as the cost of this stick does not exceed 40 dollars, while the price of a wheelchair equipped with this technology ranges between 2,000 and 10,000 dollars.
The students presented their innovation online as an open source project, which they hope will benefit developers, inventors and designers with the aim of creating tools that help people with disabilities in their daily activities.
