Germany qualified as top of its group with 7 points after an exciting draw with Switzerland in the third round of the group stage on Sunday. The team players were surprised by the large number of mosquitoes in the camp, as striker Maximilian Pierre complained of their bites, saying:

“We're running away to the offices. I've been bitten by mosquitoes two or three times, but if mosquitoes are our biggest problem in the tournament, that's okay.”

Martin Geber, an expert in entomology, said in statements reported by The Sun newspaper:

“This type of mosquito is very aggressive, appears in large numbers and bites during the day and at night.”

Mosquito bites raise concerns about transmitting many diseases to players, as their bites are responsible for dozens of them.
