Rarely in the summer... Thunder clouds and rain in 4 Gulf countries are now being monitored by satellites
Weather of Arabia - The latest satellite images show, in an unusual way, that a number of Gulf countries were affected this afternoon, Friday, by unstable weather conditions, as a result of the flow of amounts of tropical moisture coming from the Arabian Sea towards the region, which in turn works to form thunderstorm clouds and precipitation.
Heavy rains in Oman and parts of the UAE
Since noon, the Hajar mountain range in the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates has been witnessing activity of cumulus thunderstorms and medium and heavy rains, which were accompanied by showers of hail, and strong downward winds blowing, causing local waves of dust.
Strong thunderstorms affecting Qatar
The satellite images also show the development of quantities of cumulus thunderclouds in the sky of Qatar, which included the northern, central and southern parts of it. Medium and heavy rain fell, accompanied by hail showers in limited parts.
The rains included unusual areas in Saudi Arabia
The satellite images also show that parts of the northern Riyadh region and the regions of Hafr Al-Batin and Al-Qassim were affected by a limited development of cumulus thunderstorms, which caused light rain to fall locally and randomly.
Weather forecasts indicate that chances of rain will continue in the aforementioned countries until the early hours of the night, and God knows best.
