Evergreen said in an emailed statement that the accident did not cause a fuel leak, nor did it block a navigation channel or disrupt traffic to and from the port.

She added that the company "is making arrangements for divers to conduct underwater inspections to verify any damage to the ship, and is coordinating with all concerned parties to re-float the ship as soon as possible."

And she continued, "The cause of the accident is under investigation by the competent authority."
