Levant | Watch.. The first snowfall in the mountains of Lebanon heralds a colder-than-usual winter season in the region (details)
Arab Weather - The high mountains of Lebanon were exposed to snowfall last night, Sunday, as a relatively cold air mass affected the region, coinciding with the expansion of the Red Sea depression.
Weather forecasters at "Arab Weather" said that the nature of the weather system affecting the Levant imposed a state of atmospheric instability that affected the entire region for several days, leading to thunderstorms that included various regions of Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Syria.
The state of instability was accompanied by a clear coldness in the upper layers of the atmosphere due to the cold upper basin accompanying the state, which led to a drop in temperatures in the high mountains of Lebanon to below zero degrees Celsius, and snow fell on the high mountains of Lebanon, which are more than 2,500 meters above sea level, including Mount Makmel, the Faraya region, Qurnat as-Sawda, and some of the surrounding mountains, in light of the availability of sufficient moisture for snow to fall.
Experts at Arab Weather said that Lebanon's high mountains are accustomed to receiving snow in November, but the nature of weather systems in the northern half of the Earth imposes an early cold that has affected the entire region since last October, which heralds a colder than usual season in light of expectations that indicate that this November is expected to witness colder than usual temperatures, God willing.
