Arab Weather - Citizens reported on social media on Friday that their smartphones' clocks had automatically adjusted from summer time to winter time, causing them some confusion.

For his part, an official source explained to the media that the new government will not back down from the decision to fix the timing, which was adopted by the Al-Khasawneh government, stressing that the government will continue to work with this decision.

It is noteworthy that the government decided in 2022 to cancel winter time and adopt summer time throughout the year.

How to solve the problem of changing the time and advancing the clock automatically on some devices and smartphones?

This problem is caused by the programming of smartphones supervised by international companies that use two time systems: summer and winter. Although Jordan has established summer time throughout the year (GMT +3), some phones may automatically adjust their time to winter time, due to their old programming that depends on changing the time twice a year.

Interestingly, some phones, even of the same make and model, are affected by this issue, while others continue to display the correct time. This is due to how the devices are updated and the time is read by the system of each device.

How to solve the problem

1. Restart your phone: The first recommended step is to restart your device. Often times, this simple process can solve the problem by automatically resetting the time to the correct time.
2. System update: If the problem is not resolved after restarting the device, it is recommended to update the device's system to the latest available version. Updates usually contain software fixes that help set the timing correctly.
3. Manual adjustment: If the previous two steps do not solve the problem, the user can manually adjust the time to the correct daylight saving time (GMT +3). This setting varies from device to device, but almost all smartphones provide the option to adjust the time manually.
