Report: Air pollution killed 3.7 million people in 2012

These results showed that urban residents breathe air that is 2.5 times more polluted than the minimum permissible limit, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, lung cancer, and various respiratory diseases, including asthma.
According to experts , the main factors causing pollution are transportation, extensive construction operations, excessive use of energy, industrial development, and the lack of complete waste disposal. Therefore, it is not surprising that pollution claimed the lives of 3.7 million people in 2012 in the world.
According to the results of the studies, the most polluted countries in the world are Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Iran and Bahrain.
In the Pakistani city of Peshawar, which is inhabited by 3.6 million people, the concentration of suspended particles with a diameter of 10 microns or less (PM10) is 540 micrograms per cubic meter, while the concentration of these particles should not exceed 20 micrograms, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
Peshawar is followed by the city of Rawalpindi (448 micrograms) and the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif ranks third (334 micrograms).
