Electricity distribution declares emergency for workers in the field and prevents vacations

ArabiaWeather.com- The General Manager of the Electricity Distribution Company, Hassan Thuneibat, confirmed the state of emergency in its work areas, starting next Saturday, corresponding to 1/23/2016, to face the repercussions of the expected cold wave early next week.

He explained that the decision comes from the company's keenness to maintain the availability of electric current for subscribers in its areas of work in Tafileh, Karak, Ma'an, Aqaba, the Jordan Valley and the eastern region.

And he mentioned in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that the company decided to stop taking vacations and holidays for all cadres concerned with implementing the emergency plan, including workers in the call center, emergency rooms, and technical and field workshops.

Thuneibat stated that the decision includes site managers and engineers, working to unload the largest amount of the company's energies and cadres into the field, and strengthening the cadres of operating and emergency rooms and the call center. To receive complaints and observations of subscribers and follow up on any emergency during depression.

He also stressed the importance of the executive directors and directors of departments in all work sites, in full coordination with the local administrations in the governorates and participating in the emergency rooms in the governorates, and applying the circular of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority to communicate with the National Electric Power Company and ensure the presence of a working cadre during the emergency period.

The company instructed the need to work on inspecting the vehicles, ensuring their full readiness and providing them with what is necessary to work in the coming weather conditions, and making sure that there are hired mechanisms to open the roads since the beginning of the declaration of the state of emergency, stressing the need for coordination between the company’s concession areas to exchange materials, cars, machinery and workshops.

He pointed out the importance of inspecting the number of vehicles and tools required for the work of the workshops, and making field tours for the concerned engineers in the areas on networks and transfer stations two days before the expected snow storm.

And he indicated that the company worked to strengthen the cadres in the (call center) to receive the largest possible number of citizens’ calls and complaints, explaining the full coordination with the administrative rulers, the armed forces, civil defense, public security and the rest of the relevant ministries through presence and participation in operations rooms.

Governorates, the operations room of the Ministry of Interior and the operations room of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority, in addition to continuous communication with the operations room of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

He stated that the company, in coordination with the relevant authorities, opened central operations rooms distributed over the company's sites headed by executive managers in the sites, and it was linked to a main operations room in the company's main offices / Amman under his chairmanship and the supervision of the company's senior management. The efficiency of the company 's technical staff has also been raised , and they have been reinforced with the number and materials needed to repair faults, and vehicles, mechanisms and four-wheel drive cranes are equipped to help them travel during snow, storms and difficult conditions.

He added that the company is keen on the safety of citizens and employees as a priority for the company always, as priority is given to dealing with cases that pose a threat to the lives of citizens.
