A simple device that turns any old car into a smart car
ArabiaWeather.com- A startup company is currently working to support old cars with new technologies so that their owners can enjoy some of the luxury of 21st century technology.
And based on the fact that updating the car and providing it with modern technical equipment is a very expensive process, Verizon has resorted to designing a small device that can be connected to most old cars to support it with the most important modern technologies that help in automatic examination of the car and add some safety features.
The company announced its new “Hum” device during the North American International Auto Show. The device contains two main components: the main processor that is connected to the “OBDII” port, and a Bluetooth communication device that can be installed on one of the corners of the windshield.
The device provides the user with an analysis of vehicle status data, an emergency call line, mechanical assistance, and a mobile phone control interface, in addition to some other auxiliary features. The device connects with any mobile phone running Android or iOS.
The device gives alerts to the driver about the state of fuel and emergency situations, with the possibility of making a call to a mechanical support center by specialists who can identify the problem and offer some solutions. The device also contains an emergency button that allows immediate assistance to be called, with the current geographical location of the vehicle being transmitted. The device's sensors can automatically send a request for help in the event of a sudden accident.
