The head of the Corona Virus Strains Monitoring Project at Biolab, Dr. Issa Abu Dayyeh, revealed that the two discovered cases of the “hidden” strain were suspected after conducting specialized supplementary PCR tests on positive samples collected from travelers coming to Queen Alia International Airport, and then the suspicion was confirmed that it type BA.2 by performing a genetic sequence test, which helped decipher the genetic code of the virus completely and analyze all the mutations it contains, indicating that the two cases belong to two people coming from abroad, one from India and the other from the Philippines, indicating that there are approximately 28 thousand cases Confirmed from the Omicron subspecies globally, recorded in several countries, the first of which was India.

Abu Dayyeh said that the research team of Biolab Medical Laboratory worked in record time to upload the genetic codes of the two cases of the new strain “BA.2” to the global platform GISAID for the purpose of sharing it with specialists around the world, to be the first genetic codes for the “hidden” sub-breed of the Omicron mutant. , published from Jordan and the Arab world, stressing that the strain monitoring team at Biolab Medical Laboratory put the "hidden mutant" under the microscope, to be able to isolate any new cases that come from abroad or are discovered locally and for a deeper understanding of its characteristics in terms of transmission speed and severity of symptoms compared to the original Omicron mutant. from which it emerged.
