Surveys reported by Reuters showed that economic losses from natural and human disasters have been increasing for years, reaching $77 billion in the period from January to June, and that the insurance sector assumed responsibility for covering $42 billion.
Swiss Re stressed that the economic losses caused by natural and human disasters during the first half of 2021 are the second largest ever during that period of the year, and it is higher than the 10-year average of $33 billion.
