Cold polar winds affect Gaza, dropping night temperatures to less than 5 degrees Celsius in some areas
From the Arab Weather Regional Center, weather maps indicate that the Gaza Strip, like other areas of the eastern Mediterranean basin, will be affected by a very cold polar air mass starting Saturday and increasing in the middle of next week, as temperatures drop further, increasing the suffering of families living in tents that are not qualified to withstand the cold weather, and the atmosphere turns very cold at night, and the chances are ripe for rain to fall intermittently.
Severe cold at night during the cold wave in the coming days, reaching its peak with the deepening of polar winds on Monday/Tuesday night.
Weather maps of temperature behavior indicate that as the cold wave deepens, night temperatures will witness a significant drop starting tonight and will increase during the coming nights to reach their peak on Monday/Tuesday night and Tuesday morning, when the polar winds deepen, causing temperatures to drop to around 5 degrees Celsius in several areas of the Strip and to drop below 5 degrees in the interior parts of Gaza that are far from marine influences, adding a new burden on families living in tents that are not qualified to withstand the cold weather.
In this context, the continuous decline in temperatures at night raises concerns as the severity of the cold is expected to increase, which may expose the lives of families, especially children and the elderly, to real health risks. The cold wave threatens the livelihoods of more than two million people, which requires the responsible authorities and humanitarian institutions to quickly intervene to support the displaced with heating supplies and appropriate winter blankets.
May God help our brothers.
