Hurricane damage in America
On the other hand, the American authorities confirmed that the death toll from the hurricanes that struck five states over the past few days had risen to 18 deaths and more than 100 injured.
The American ABC network reported that at least 25 tornadoes struck the states of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas last week, causing the destruction of hundreds of homes and power outages in several areas, in addition to landslides on some highways. For his part, the governor announced Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a national disaster in 106 counties across the state, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims.
The wind speed sometimes exceeded 200 kilometers per hour, sweeping away everything in its path. Texas, Kentucky, and even Oklahoma were severely hit by the hurricane. However, these regions are accustomed to this type of weather phenomena, but rarely witness such violence.
In Arkansas, the small town of Roger, also in the path of the hurricanes, was reduced to rubble and the storms disrupted transportation, while Americans are on holiday on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day, disrupting many travelers, especially on the roads. It is expected that these hurricanes will not be the end of the matter, as the Storm Prediction Center has issued a new hurricane warning for an area inhabited by more than six million Americans.
