See in pictures how rising ocean levels and climate change are affecting Dubai and some other cities
Arabia Weather - A new analysis reveals the potential impact of rising ocean water levels on some cities.
The analysis showed that the continuing increase in pollution resulting from global warming has led to extreme droughts and floods, and accelerated melting of glaciers and rivers around the world. Scientists point out that sea level will continue to rise for several decades due to increasing temperatures.
How could rising ocean levels due to climate change affect Dubai and other cities?
The results of the analysis, conducted by Climate Central, a non-profit climate research group, highlight the risks associated with countries failing to halt the planet's rapid global warming trend. A recent United Nations report revealed that the world is currently heading towards a rise in temperatures to 2.9 degrees Celsius.
Based on peer-reviewed sea level rise projections and local surge from central climate models, the results highlight a dramatic discrepancy between the current reality and future high tides. If the planet's temperature rises to 3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, a clear difference will appear.
