December in the collective heritage of the Arab East

Arab Weather - The month of December is the twelfth month in the Gregorian calendar (GREGORRIAN CALENDER: known in the Arab East as (December), and in the Arabian Gulf, Yemen, the Nile Valley and the Arab Maghreb it is called (December).

Meaning of Canon

The term (Kanun) was taken from the eastern "Aramaic-Syriac" calendar. The Syriac word "Kanun" means in Arabic "fireplace" and the same term (Kanun) is the stove designated for heating with wood or coal with the onset of winter astronomically and the beginning of the drop in temperatures and the feeling of cold during the day and night or from the "kan" and settling in the house due to the cessation of work in seasonal agricultural activities and events where weather factors prevent that.

The number of days in December is (31) days. One of the climatic features of December is the beginning of winter astronomically in the Northern Hemisphere on the night of December 21 for a period of 90 days.
Perhaps the most famous oral proverbs in the Arab East about the month of December are: “In December, stay at home and stock up on firewood and oil,” “Colder than December water,” “After December, winter is easy,” “Like the darkness of December,” “A hairless tree in December turns a beardless tree into a beardless tree,” and “All trees are exposed in December except oaks, pines, and olives.”
