A huge image of Lionel Messi's face appears in a cornfield in Argentina.. So what's the story?
Weather of Arabia - expressing his love for the Argentine soccer star - who may have reached mania, an Argentine farmer planted a huge 124-acre image of Lionel Messi, after planting a corn field specially designed to celebrate the star's championships in the World Cup.
How did he do that? Below we will explain the method he used to create this agricultural art.
Argentine farmer Maximiliano Spinazzi used algorithmic equations that determined where seeds should be sown in his field in Los Condores, in Argentina's central Córdoba province.
The result was an enormous image of Messi's face that can be seen from the plane, and this amazing tribute to one of the football greats comes after Messi helped Argentina beat France and reach the World Cup title in the 2023 World Cup in Qatar.
Commenting on this, farmer Spinazzi said: “For me, Messi is unbeatable,” and continued: “Now they are world champions, I am happy that this is expressed through the cultivation of the crop.”
The football-obsessed South American country is a major agricultural producer and the world's third-largest exporter of corn, but it also considers football one of the country's most popular exposures.
How to create a farmhouse style like "Messi"
Carlos Varicelli, an agronomist, designed coding for the seed-sowing machines that enabled them to be planted in a precise pattern to create the final image, with certain areas more seed-dense than others.
Using geocoding tools, the machine knows how much seeds per square meter to place in certain places to create contrast for different parts of Messi's face, Varicelli said.
So when this maize is growing and an aerial shot is taken, where the plants are closer together and the ground is less visible, the more intense green contrasts with where there are fewer plants, and this kind of agricultural art emerges.
