The invention of a new coating that produces energy
ArabiaWeather.com - Khitam Amer - Did any of you imagine that the paint that he uses in his home can generate electrical energy to operate all the electrical appliances in the house?
This is indeed what researchers at the University of Notre Dame are currently doing for nanotechnology, where they are working on producing a coating they call "solar coating", which is a coating consisting of particles of titanium dioxide united with calcium sulfide or cadmium selenide suspended in a solution of water and alcohol for the purpose of Good adhesion coating composition.
The mechanism of action of this coating is through its use of semiconductors made of "nano-material" to produce energy, and accordingly it replaces the silicon currently used in solar chips. According to the researchers, they paint the conductive surfaces with a transparent layer, and when light falls on those surfaces, electrical energy is generated.
This coating relies on nanomaterials to form what is known as "quantum dots", which can be converted into a material that can spread and expand, as is the known used paints, and then any surface connected to it is coated without the need for other components.
And researchers at the Notre Dame Center are working to raise the efficiency of this paint by 10 to 15% to be used by individuals, especially since it is characterized by its low cost.
