Urgent | Warning No. 5 was issued by Oman Meteorology regarding the developments of Cyclone Tej
Weather of Arabia - Sinan Khalaf - Cyclone Tej continues its gradual advance towards the border areas between the Sultanate of Oman and Yemen , specifically the governorates of Dhofar and Al Mahra, bringing heavy rains, floods and strong winds to these areas.
Regarding this, Omani Meteorology issued at 10 am today Warning No. 5, which includes the latest developments in Cyclone Tej in the Arabian Sea , which stated:
"The impact of the tropical condition Tej has declined to a second-degree tropical cyclone , as some states of Dhofar Governorate witnessed rain of varying intensity and active winds during the past hours. Weather maps indicate a continued decline of the tropical condition to a first-degree hurricane during the next 6 hours, and the crossing of the center of The tropical situation across Al-Mahra Governorate in Yemen during tonight and tomorrow morning. The center is currently about 250 km away from the state of Salalah , and the wind speed around the center is estimated at 85 - 95 knots.
It is expected that the impact of Cyclone Tej on the Dhofar Governorate and the southern parts of the Al Wusta Governorate will continue during the coming hours, with heavy to very heavy rains of 50 - 300 mm, leading to sweeping flow of valleys and reefs, and active to high-speed winds blowing from 40 - 70 knots, and the sea will be rough. Waves on the coast of the Arabian Sea range between 5 and 10 meters, with the possibility of sea water spilling over low-lying coastal areas and creeks.
