Scientists: Giant natural vent in Siberia will turn into a lake
ArabiaWeather.com - A group of Russian researchers said that the giant natural hole, located in the Yamal Peninsula in Russian Siberia, will turn into a lake after it is filled with water.
The researchers came to this conclusion after they descended to the bottom of the hole and discovered that it resembled a cone and its bottom turned into a frozen lake, and this is their study of the cause of its emergence, photographing it and taking samples of its soil and ice.
According to the director of the Russian Arctic Center, "Vladimir Pushkarev," the calculations indicate that the hole will be filled with water by the fall of 2015 and will turn into a lake.
Scientists attribute - according to Russia Today - the reason for the emergence of this hole to the phenomenon of global warming, indicating that it may have formed with the sudden release of gases from under the surface of the earth, as the gas accumulated in the ice can mix with sand, then this mixture mixes with salts and then He runs outside.
