Thousands flee wildfires in northeast Athens
"Arab Weather" - Thousands of people in a holiday destination in the northeast of the Greek capital, Athens, were forced to flee their homes, following calls by the authorities early in the day; Because of the forest fires that got out of control.
Greek fire department spokesman Giannis Kabakis explained that the emergency services used loudspeakers, in addition to television and radio advertisements, to urge people in the Kalamos area to leave their homes. He pointed out that the final assessment of the losses has not yet been carried out because many of the homes in the area are in remote locations.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called on all government agencies to take part in efforts to combat the fire.
