Arabia Weather - The moon rises in the last quarter phase of the month of Shawwal after midnight today, Tuesday , April 30, 2024, in the sky of the Arab world.
In this context, the President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Engineer Majid Abu Zahra, explained that the last quarter period is an ideal period for exploring the terrain of the lunar surface using binoculars or a small telescope, as mountains and craters appear clearly along the border between light and shadow on the lunar surface, which provides an opportunity For viewing a 3D view and astronomical photography.
Abu Zahra pointed out that the view of the moon will be amazing when it rises in the sky at sunrise on the morning of the first Wednesday of May, as it will remain visible until noon, according to local time.
Regarding the moment of the last quarter, Abu Zahra explained that it will occur at 02:27 pm Mecca time (11:27 am GMT), when the moon completes three-quarters of its orbit around the Earth.
It is noted that the distance between the moon and the sun will decrease over the coming days, until the moon becomes in the crescent phase at the end of the month, allowing a short period of viewing before sunrise, in preparation for it reaching its conjunction status for the month of Dhul-Qi'dah.
