Video... A mudslide submerges cars on a road in Colombia
Arab Weather - Rescue teams continued their efforts on Saturday to search for survivors after a mudslide, caused by heavy rains, caused the death of at least 34 people and injured many others in the northwestern region of Colombia on a busy highway.
The authorities reported in a statement that the mudslide occurred in the afternoon on Friday, covering the road linking the cities of Quibdo and Medellin in the Chocó province located on the Pacific coast.

The northwestern region of Colombia witnessed a major tragedy after a mudslide, resulting from heavy rains, resulted in the death of at least 34 people and the injury of many others. The authorities announced that rescue teams, aided by trained dogs from various regions of the country, were sent to the site of the accident to search for survivors. Especially after the mud completely covered the road, causing several cars to drift.
In a statement issued by Nubia Cordoba Kuri, Governor of Chocó Province, she said:
“We lived through a very sad weekend, as the people of the region feel the pain of the victims.”
Pictures and videos published on social media showed the moment a large part of the mountain collapsed and fell devastatingly on top of many cars that were driving on the road below.
