The Muharram moon is in the first quarter phase... decorating the sky today
Weather of Arabia - The Astronomical Society in Jeddah explained that the sky of the Arab world will witness today the moon of the month of Muharram in the first quarter phase, which is an ideal opportunity for photography and learning about the details of its surface. The moon will rise at noon local time from the eastern horizon, and will reach the highest point in the sky with sunset and after sunrise. In the darkness of the night, a bright star will be observed near the moon, which is the defenseless fish.

The defenseless star fish
The head of the association, Engineer Majid Abu Zahra, stated that the defenseless fish is one of the brightest stars in the sky, and it appears as a single star due to the vast distance, even though it is two stars revolving around each other. He pointed out that the first quarter period shows half of the moon illuminated and the other half dark, which is the ideal time to observe the terrain. The surface of the moon using binoculars or a small telescope, where mountains and craters are very clear along the line separating the day side and the night side thanks to the interplay of light and shadows, giving a three-dimensional view.
The association's president added that the moon will remain visible until midnight local time, and will reach the moment of first quarter at 01:48 after midnight Mecca time (10:48 pm GMT), completing a quarter of its orbit around the Earth this month.
He also explained that the distance between the moon and the sun in the dome of the sky will increase over the next few days, as the moon approaches the full moon stage.
