A cold air mass affects Gaza, accompanied by a drop in temperatures and active winds
Arab Weather - Based on the latest outputs from computer simulations, Arab Weather experts reported that the Gaza Strip will be affected, starting Thursday and at the end of the week, by a cold air mass coming from the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, accompanied by a noticeable decrease in daytime and nighttime temperatures alike, with an increased feeling of cold due to wind activity.
Clear cold weather during the weekend, especially at night
Relatively cold weather is expected during the day and cold at night on Thursday and Friday, with night temperatures ranging between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, with noticeable activity in the speed of the southwesterly winds at times, which increases the feeling of cold significantly, with gusts reaching 50 km/hour at times, which may lead to negative effects on the camps for the displaced, especially with the weak infrastructure of these camps and the lack of adequate means of protection.
High waves on the coasts of the Gaza Strip and recommendations to be aware of the risks of the sea entering the land
As a result of the active winds, the waves are noticeably disturbed on the coasts of the Strip , where the wave height reaches about a meter and a half or more, with a high possibility of sea waves entering the land and coasts on Friday, which include a huge number of displaced people's tents. Therefore, the Arab Weather Regional Center advises paying attention to the risks of high waves and entering the sea, especially during the morning and afternoon hours, before the winds decrease and the waves gradually calm down during the evening and night hours.
Fears of increasing cold as winter approaches
In a related context, the continuous decline in temperatures with the onset of winter raises concerns, as the severity of the cold is expected to increase during several periods of this winter, which may expose the lives of families, especially children and the elderly, to additional health risks.
Accordingly, responsible authorities and humanitarian organizations must move quickly to provide support to the displaced and provide heating supplies and appropriate winter blankets. Protective equipment is also increasingly important as temperatures are expected to drop further in the coming months.
And God knows best.
