Corona terrifies China again, and records the highest daily death toll in more than two years

This is another epidemic wave that is testing the patience of the Chinese towards strict restrictions, at a time when much of the world has returned to its normal activity.

On Sunday, 1.5 million residents of Baisheng in northeastern China joined tens of millions of other Chinese citizens who have undergone some form of lockdown over the past month, bringing business to a standstill and hurting the economy.

And the National Health Committee said in a statement that China recorded 13,146 injuries on Sunday, with "no new deaths recorded."

This is the highest daily death toll in the country since mid-February 2020.
