The Prime Minister issued a statement that the areas exposed to floods and rain are “disaster areas,” and that he appeals to all competent authorities to take urgent measures to confront the damage caused by the floods.

Pictures and video clips posted on social media showed footage of torrential torrents and floods that caused a significant rise in water levels, leading to the flooding of an entire neighborhood, the fall of trees, and the collapse of power lines.

The Libyan army mobilized to transport food and aid to the affected areas and evacuate stranded families. The electricity company also called on citizens not to deal with the malfunctions resulting from these floods, in order to preserve their lives.
