Arabia's weather - fog is a form of condensation, which is a natural weather phenomenon that arises as a result of clouds touching the surface of the earth. These clouds are often of the type of "Rahal", which are water droplets high in the air and occur as a result of condensation of water vapor near the surface of the earth.
Fog is formed as a result of several factors, namely:
• Availability of high humidity in the atmosphere.
• The presence of a sufficient amount of condensation nuclei, which is dust, dirt and pollutants that are not visible to the naked eye.
• The clarity of the atmosphere and the coolness of the earth's surface.
Fog is divided into several types. What are the types of fog and how are they formed ..?
Land fog : is formed over land as a result of high humidity and coldness of the earth's surface.
Sea fog : Sea fog occurs when warm air passes over the cold sea water, and the condensation process occurs, forming a cloud of fog. This type of fog is characterized by that it moves to large distances from the land and is characterized by its density.
• Harmonic fog : It is a fog resulting from the horizontal movement of hot, humid air over a cooler surface, where the surface temperature is less than the dew point temperature of the air moving above it.
• Valley fog : It forms when cold air descends from the mountain slopes towards the valleys during the awakening nights, provided the humidity levels are high in the valleys.
Front fog : occurs when cold fronts are weak, when the air is saturated with moisture.
• Smog : It is formed in industrial cities as a result of combining smoke from industrial activities with fog.
• Ice fog (freezing): This occurs when the fog is formed and the air temperature drops below the freezing point, then the water droplets that make up the fog turn into ice.
What are the dangers of fog?
The hazards of fog vary according to its severity and type, the higher the density of the fog, the greater its danger, and the danger of fog lies in the low horizontal visibility and in some cases its absence, and one of the types of fog causes slippage on the roads and damage to plants, which is frozen fog.
