Dana Nature Reserve... among the best global destinations to visit in 2021
Weather of Arabia - The American "Time" magazine chose the Dana Reserve in Jordan among the best global destinations worth visiting in 2021, and the magazine published a list of the best places to visit after an evaluation process that is subject to measuring several factors, namely quality, originality, sustainability, innovation, impact, history, place and heritage.
The aim of preparing this list was to draw the world’s attention to travel to distinctive tourist destinations, and the importance of this year’s list comes in that it came a year and a half after its publication was stopped due to the Corona pandemic that affected the world.
Introduction to Dana Nature Reserve
Dana Biodiversity Reserve is located in the south of Jordan. The Dana Biodiversity Reserve is the largest natural reserve in Jordan, with an area of about 300 square kilometers. Which rises more than 1500 meters above sea level and descends to the plains of the Wadi Araba desert, and also includes picturesque valleys.
The reserve is one of the most diverse areas in Jordan in terms of ecosystems and plant patterns, and is the richest in terms of plant diversity around the world, as it embraces more than 830 plant species, three of these species were registered for the first time in the Dana Reserve and bore the name Dana in its scientific names in Latin .
The reserve also includes the guest house, the Rummana eco-tourism camp, and the Feynan eco-lodge, which is located within the reserve. It is also distinguished by the diversity of its unique wildlife and is home to many globally endangered birds and mammals, such as the Syrian carpenter, the Afghan fox and the mountain goats, and where the eagle falcon breeds.
