A strange taste.. What is the relationship between the pollution of the Seine River and the illness of an Olympic champion?
ArabiaWeather - Tyler Mislawchuk revealed the reason why he vomited ten times after swimming in the polluted Seine River during the 2024 Paris Olympics, after the video clip spread widely. Mislawchuk, 29 years old, who ranked ninth, said that he was competing for... One of the medals in the middle of the final leg of the race on Wednesday, before it began to wind down. He explained:
“I tried to win a medal, and I was in third place, before I dropped out.”
Mislawchuk attributed the reason for his vomiting to the high temperatures, as he lives in much colder climates. He added: "It became hot in the last few metres, so I vomited ten times after the end of the race. I am from an area where the temperature reaches minus 50 degrees Celsius in the winter."
Pollution of the Seine River is back in the spotlight
Many pointed to the pollution of the Seine River as the reason behind Mislawschuk's vomiting, as swimmers' training was postponed due to pollution resulting from sewage overflow after rain that fell during the opening ceremony.
After the competition, some swimmers spoke and explained their disgusting experiences due to the polluted water of the Seine River.
