Shocking scenes of hail in the Mexican capital leave the city in chaos
Weather of Arabia - The Mexican capital, Mexico City, was hit by a severe hailstorm on Sunday (June 12), causing confusion on the roads that were covered with a thick layer of hail, causing damage to many homes and trees and collapsing the roof of a store.
The hailstorm hit 10 neighborhoods in Mexico City, within the central and western parts of the city, prompting the government to issue a yellow alert, and as the snow melted, floodwaters inundated low-lying areas, causing further confusion.
Although the event is rare, this is not the first time that a hailstorm has hit Mexico during the warm months. In July 2019, a similar hailstorm hit Guadalajara, Mexico, covering the city with ice that reached more than a meter in height.
The hailstorm was caused by a rapid rise of warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico due to its meeting with the mountains, which led to the cooling of the air and the formation of high cumulus clouds and heavy hail.
