Arab Weather - With the approach of the start of winter time for the year 2024, which will witness the clock being delayed by 60 minutes, millions of Egyptians are anticipating this change, especially with the beginning of September and the decrease in temperatures. With the astronomical end of summer approaching on Sunday, September 22, 2024, many are looking for the date of the end of daylight saving time and turning the clock back 60 minutes at 12 noon on the specified day announced by the government, which announces the official start of winter time in Egypt.

On March 1, 2023, the Cabinet approved a draft law to reinstate daylight saving time and winter time, with the aim of rationalizing energy consumption in light of global economic conditions. According to this law, the clock will be advanced by 60 minutes starting from the last Friday of April until the end of the last Thursday of October of each Gregorian year.
Law No. 24 of 2023 stipulates that daylight saving time begins on the last Friday in April and ends at the end of the last Thursday in October, when the clock is advanced by 60 minutes. For the year 2024, winter time will return on October 28 at 11:59 p.m., when the clock is delayed by 60 minutes to become eleven o'clock instead of twelve o'clock.

Astronomical end of summer
According to astronomical calculations, summer 2024 ends on Sunday, September 21, and fall begins on September 22, the day of the autumnal equinox. As for winter, it begins astronomically on December 21 and lasts about 88 days, 23 hours and 35 minutes, ending on March 20, and spring begins on March 21.
