According to the weather forecaster on duty, "Hassan Abdullah", the heavy rains and floods that the feelings witnessed on that day were due to the Makkah region being affected by the Mediterranean depression, which was accompanied by cold air fronts, with the presence of the Red Sea depression, which caused the formation of a state Violent atmospheric instability, as a result of which clouds and rain fell.

The heavy rains had fallen on the second day of al-Tashreeq, coinciding with the pilgrims heading to the Sacred House of God to throw the pebbles on the second day of al-Tashreeq, as the Jamarat throwing area turned into a corridor in which torrents flow.

Eyewitnesses reported that rain water rose in some areas to the level of car windows and uprooted tents in the Mina area, and many pilgrims found themselves stuck on the road between Mina and Makkah after they lost their way to their buses because of the fog.
