A deep air depression affects the Levant and causes the return of cold and rainy winter weather, God willing.
Arab Weather - First, after God's will, computer weather maps show that the eastern Mediterranean basin region, especially the Levant, has been affected after a long absence by the first deep air depression with integrated characteristics and accompanied by a polar air mass of very cold origin. The air depression brings stormy, rainy and very cold weather to the Levant, God willing.
A low pressure system is gradually affecting the Levant, with the passage of a cold air front.
The effects of the low pressure system on the north of the Levant, especially Syria and Lebanon, will begin in the morning hours of Wednesday, when a cold and rainy air front will pass and reach Palestine and Jordan in the late morning and afternoon hours. Cold and rainy winter weather will prevail at times, with heavy rains sometimes accompanied by strong thunderstorms and hail, especially on the Syrian and Lebanese coasts. Snow will fall heavily on the high mountain peaks in Syria and Lebanon, specifically Mount Hermon and the surrounding areas.
Active winds will blow with strong gusts, especially at sea, and the Mediterranean will be rough, God willing, while the same active winds will cause dense dust waves and strong sandstorms in the Badia Al-Sham regions, which are still far from rainfall, God willing.
The depression deepens on Wednesday/Thursday night, and very cold winds flow towards the region
During the hours of Thursday/Friday night and Thursday morning, the low pressure system deepens over the Levant as a result of the flow of polar winds of very cold origin towards the center of the low pressure system. Therefore, the weather activity intensifies and very cold and stormy weather prevails as a result of the significant increase in wind speed. Heavy rain falls on various regions of the Levant, sometimes accompanied by thunder and hail showers, while the rain is very heavy in the coastal areas of Syria and Lebanon, and the winds are very fast, as some gusts reach 80 km/hour.
The snow line (the level separating snowfall from rain) is expected to drop in the northern regions of Syria to below 600 metres above sea level during the peak period, while the level of snowfall increases towards southern Syria and Lebanon.
In Jordan, snow is expected, God willing, on the peaks of the Karak and Tafilah mountains, which include the Qadisiyah and Rashadiyah heights and the surrounding areas, with occasional accumulations in those areas. Later, some snowfall will extend to the high peaks of the Shara Mountains in the south in Ma'an Governorate. As for the high mountain peaks in the north and center of the Kingdom, the opportunity will be available in the morning hours for snow showers to fall on the high peaks of the Jerash and Ajloun mountains, while it will often be mixed with rain on the peaks of the Balqa and capital mountains.
The low pressure system is moving away from the area on Thursday night.
During the hours of Thursday/Friday night, the low pressure system will move away from the region on Thursday night, but the region will remain under the influence of the very cold air mass rushing behind it, and there will be a noticeable drop in night temperatures. The weather will be very cold in most areas, and very cold over the high mountainous elevations.
In the early night hours, the opportunity remains available for some local showers of rain, God willing, in some areas of the Levant, in the form of snowfall over the high mountainous elevations, especially in Syria and Lebanon, and the wind speed decreases noticeably and becomes northwesterly, moderate in speed, sometimes active.
God knows best.
