The white days are called by this name; Due to the full moon and its full moon on those days, which are the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth of the middle of each Arab month. The days were described by this name; Because of the whiteness of the moon on those nights, and not because of any whiteness on its days, but it was named after this metaphor.
These days have been specified in the noble prophetic hadiths, including the hadith of Jarir bin Abdullah, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, who said:
“Fasting three days of every month is a perpetual fast, and the white days are the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth morning.” (Narrated by Al-Nasa’i and its chain of transmission is authentic, as Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani said in “Fath Al-Bari”).
Why do we fast the six eggs?
The answer: If what is meant is to fast the six days of Shawwal, then it is considered desirable in view of the great reward that it entails. Fasting these days is equivalent to fasting an entire year, and whoever fasts them after fasting the month of Ramadan will receive a reward similar to one who fasted the entire year, as stated in the authentic hadiths.
In Sahih Muslim, on the authority of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it will be like fasting for a lifetime.”
And in Sunan Ibn Majah, on the authority of Thawban, the servant of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said: “Whoever fasts six days after breaking the fast has completed the year. Whoever does a good deed will receive ten times it.” Authenticated by Al-Albani.
Ibn Khuzaymah narrated it in his Sahih on the authority of Thawban as well, with the wording: “Fasting Ramadan is for ten months, and fasting six days is for two months. That is fasting for the year,” meaning fasting Ramadan and six days after it.
