The rain water raid eight houses and many shops in Zarqa
Arab Weather - The rain water that fell in abundance during the past hours raided a number of shops, garages and warehouses located on Zarqa Highway - Amman and eight houses adjacent to the Zarqa Stream, causing material losses.
Zarqa Chamber of Commerce President Hussein Shuraim stated to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that there are many shops and warehouses where the water level has increased due to the abundance of rain and the natural flow of water and its flow in the private stream due to the accumulation of waste in a ferry for drainage and closure of water.
For his part, the mayor of Zarqa Municipality, Eng. Imad Al-Momani, said that the high level of the eastern torrent water coming from Sahab and Ghabawi area resulted in the flooding of many garages in the craft area on the highway and a number of settlement apartments located in the restricted area next to the torrent.
He added that the municipal cadres pumped water from the settlement apartments, despite previous warnings to them of the necessity of installing submersible pumps to raise the water in the event of flooding.
He explained that the municipality has distributed cadres of maintenance and emergency teams to the municipality’s areas so that they are completely covered to deal with any water pools as a result of rain, especially in the settlement buildings, pointing out that the tunnels and streets were not closed despite the abundance of rain water.
Al-Momani said that the municipality's cadres and mechanisms are working continuously, and since the beginning of the impact of the air depression, they have to extract water from the areas where they gathered, whether the shops or the settlement buildings, calling on citizens to stay away from the course of the flow of Zarqa, the valleys and low areas.
