Important tips for farmers to deal with the heat wave

Weather of Arabia - With continued indications that Jordan will be affected by significant increases in temperatures, fears increase about the possible negative effects of the heat wave on the agricultural sector, and potential damage to agricultural crops. From this standpoint, and in order to avoid any potential losses, we advise farmers to take the following preventive measures:

• Increasing the quantities of irrigation water for agricultural crops.
• Irrigation in the morning or after sunset to reduce water evaporation.
• Avoid spraying chemical pesticides to combat diseases and pests except when necessary, and that should be in the evening hours, provided that the plant is not flowering.
• Remove weeds around trees.
• Cover the fruits as much as possible and paint the stems of the trees.
• Avoid fertilizing during the heat wave period to avoid any damage that may result.
