Among the residents of the camp in which he lives, this boy, who is not yet fifteen years old, is known by the nickname “Newton,” as he tells his story with a humble smile, indicating that this nickname came as a result of the similarity between him and the famous physicist, Isaac Newton, whom it fell upon. An apple, and inspired him to discover the law of gravity and give the world a new understanding of the universe.
While he and his family lived in the darkness of tragedy and missiles raining down on them, Hossam decided to innovate and find a solution as he found himself toying with the idea of a lighting system based on wind energy, inspired by the darkness that surrounded them.
On the banks of the border with Egypt, his family pitched their tent next to a one-story house, and the boy took advantage of the opportunity and climbed to the roof of the house, where he set up two fans on top of each other, resembling small wind turbines, capable of generating electrical energy using wires, buttons, lamps, and a thin piece of wood. He succeeded in delivering power to the inside of the tent, giving them lighting that alleviated their suffering under the harsh conditions.
Just as Thomas Edison created a light bulb after many attempts, Hossam failed twice before succeeding in lighting up the system on the third attempt. He proves that will and determination are capable of achieving miracles in the most difficult circumstances.
