Omani Finance Minister: Hurricane Shaheen's costs amounted to OMR 200 million

Weather of Arabia - The Minister of Finance in the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Sultan Al-Habsi, said during the media meeting of the state's general budget for 2022 AD, that the total costs incurred as a result of Hurricane Shaheen amounted to 200 million Omani riyals, including infrastructure repair, aid distribution and others, as the tropical cyclone "Shaheen left A lot of damage in the Sultanate of Oman, especially on infrastructure, agricultural areas and homes.

Cyclone Shaheen reached its peak in the Sultanate of Oman on Monday (October 4, 2021), leaving hundreds dead and missing, while hundreds took refuge in shelters, and destroyed vast agricultural areas, in addition to razing hundreds of homes and cars.

On the seventh of October, the ministerial committee in charge of impact assessment decided to start disbursing an initial urgent aid of 1,000 Omani riyals to each damaged house.

Among the damage to the infrastructure, road networks were cut off in the affected states, which are North Al Batinah, Al Suwaiq, Al Khaboura and Saham, and communication, electricity and water lines were cut off, in addition to the damage to the homes of citizens and residents significantly, as the waters of valleys and reefs washed away some homes, and washed away many with them. Of vehicles, animals, private and public interests, valleys swept areas of agricultural land, and destroyed many crops.
