One person died and dozens were injured as a result of a new earthquake in Malatya, Turkey

Weather of Arabia - The Turkish authorities announced the death of one person, the injury of 69 others, and the collapse of a number of buildings as a result of a new earthquake that struck the southeastern state of Malatya, at a time when relief operations and the removal of rubble are still continuing from the effects of the earthquake that struck the country 3 weeks ago.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said that the 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred in Malatya, Monday noon, with its epicenter in Yesilyurt district, while the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center estimated the earthquake's strength at 5.2.

AFAD head Younes Sezer said - in a press conference - that search and rescue teams were sent to 5 buildings.

The teams were able to rescue a person from under the rubble of a building 1.5 hours after the earthquake.

The Malatya earthquake occurred after a 5-magnitude earthquake struck Golbashi district in Adi Yaman province, in the south of the country, this morning.
