Connecting the solar energy system of the Aircraft Engine Maintenance Center to the electricity grid in Dubai

ArabiaWeather.com- Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has completed the process of connecting the solar energy system from photovoltaic panels to the Emirates Airline Center for Aircraft Engine Maintenance, in cooperation with Emirates Airlines.

This step comes within the framework of the " Shams Dubai " initiative, which was launched by the Dubai Electricity Authority earlier as part of its smart initiatives. The production capacity of the project, which is located in the Warsan region, is about (1 megawatt), and it contributes to reducing 800 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

The project promotes the use of renewable energy ; To reduce carbon emissions, this system consists of 2,990 photovoltaic panels, and aims to produce electrical energy using solar energy ; In order to meet the requirements of the center.

The capacity of the solar panels installed on the umbrellas of the parking area at the Emirates Airline Center for Aircraft Engine Maintenance is about 1,000 kilowatts, which allows it to generate about 1,884 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.

It is noteworthy that the " Shams Dubai " initiative, launched by DEWA in 2014, comes as part of its initiatives aimed at achieving the "Smart Dubai" initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. To transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.

The initiative also aims to involve the local community in Dubai in the production of renewable energy, and to contribute to achieving the Dubai government's goals to diversify energy sources.

The initiative allows home and building owners to install photovoltaic panels on roofs to produce electricity from solar energy , and the authority connects them with the authority’s network. The surplus of energy produced internally is transferred to the Authority's grid.
