ArabiaWeather.com- Ornithologists revealed, after a study conducted on 25 European countries, that Europe has lost birds during the past 30 years, equivalent to 420 million birds.
British scientist Richard Gregory, a researcher at the British Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, said that rare and endangered birds in Europe are in good condition, and that common birds, such as the lark, suffered heavy losses.
Over the past 30 years, about 46% of the larks, 58% of the starlings, 61% of the sparrows, or about 147 million birds, have been lost, as well as 77% of the trawls, and 80% of the migratory birds.
It is noteworthy that the research team has collected this information, which was published in the "Ecology Letters" magazine, in the period from 1980 to 2009, on about 144 species of birds.
