Weather of Arabia - Today, Thursday, marks the anniversary of the first infection with the new Corona virus that was detected in Jordan three years ago, after which the number of infections began to gradually increase until the total number of infections recorded in Jordan since the start of the pandemic exceeded one million and 700 thousand infections.
The story began on March 2, 2020, when the former Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, announced the first infection with the virus, and it belonged to a Jordanian who came from Italy. At that time, the infected person underwent isolation in the epidemiological department at Prince Hamzah Hospital in Amman.
Jaber said, at the time, that the injured person had entered the Kingdom, before activating the quarantine procedures for Jordanians coming from Italy. On March 13, 2020, Jaber announced that the only person infected with the Corona virus had recovered and left Prince Hamzah Hospital, accompanied by his colleague suspected of being infected, after laboratory tests confirmed his recovery, and that "Jordan is devoid of any confirmed cases of Corona virus."
And after Jordan recorded 84 cases of the virus, most of them coming from abroad, between March 15-20, 2020, the government announced, on the 20th of that month, the imposition of a comprehensive curfew in all regions of the Kingdom, which took effect from March 21 of that year.
At that time, a royal will was issued approving the decision of the Council of Ministers, announcing the implementation of Defense Law No. 13 of 1992, in all parts of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as of March 17, 2020.
Jordan experienced 4 waves of spread of the Corona virus, which included different variants of the epidemic, the most violent of which was at the beginning of February of 2022, as Jordan recorded more than 22 thousand daily infections on February 8, 2022.
