Arab Weather - There is a lot of question these days about the most accurate types of tests for the emerging corona virus , and among them is the nasal swab that is adopted mainly around the world.

The Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that taking a swab from the mouth or nose determines the positive or negative infection of the emerging corona virus “Covid 19 ”.

This came in response to a question by a follower on the "Twitter" website, in which he said: "Is a nasal swab more accurate than a mouth swab in determining infection with the emerging corona virus ?"

In its response, the Ministry of Health stated that based on the recommendations issued by the CDC to collect and test a sample from the upper respiratory tract to detect the emerging corona virus , in general any of the following options are acceptable samples for examination :

A sample of the nasopharynx, which is collected by inserting the stick for the nasal swab procedure parallel to the palate and with a specified depth .

- Oropharyngeal sample, which is collected by inserting the sticks for the oral swab procedure into the posterior pharyngeal and tonsillary areas.
