Weather of Arabia - The Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi revealed eight new species of invertebrates, belonging to the Spheciformes family: Crabronidae, which are known as “digger wasps.” This discovery was officially added to the 2023 species classification lists, and was searched for in the areas of Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, Al Bidda Reserve, Barqa Falcons Reserve, and Al Houbara Reserve.
The Zayed Network of Nature Reserves, managed by the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, places great importance on preserving biodiversity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. These tireless efforts made by the Authority in the field of scientific research represent a point of confirmation of the importance of contributing to enriching scientific knowledge. Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, said: “We are proud to announce the discovery of eight new species of invertebrates in Abu Dhabi, which are added for the first time to the scientific lists for the year 2023. This discovery reinforces the importance of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a unique habitat for biodiversity and the presence of "A species that has not been recorded anywhere else in the world. The discovery also demonstrates the Authority's commitment to promoting scientific research, which is one of our main priorities."
