ArabiaWeather.com - There has recently been talk about the dinosaur "the big-nosed king" referring to information about this type of extinct dinosaur, following the discovery of a new fossil called "Renorix chondrobus".
While scientists were rearranging the fossils, they stumbled upon the remains of the "rinorex" in a depository at the Brigham University Museum in Utah, where they were found in a rock formation in the 1990s.
After further study, it was proven that it belonged to a dinosaur that lived about 75 million years ago in the center of the state.
"We discovered almost the entire skull, but the preparation and the work was very difficult," said researcher Terry Gates of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, who led the study. "It took two years to extract the fossil from the sandstone, as it was completely attached to it as part of it." .
Scientists believe that the "Renorix" dinosaur was of the hadrosaurus species, and is distinguished by the huge nasal bone, which makes it the "king with the big nose."
"We don't know exactly what the big nose is for, but we think it may have been used to track the smell of meat and identify members of the group," Gates told Live Science.
