Arab Weather - Jordanians will perform the Istisqa prayer this afternoon, Saturday, in a number of mosques in various regions of the Kingdom, in response to the call of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, due to the delay in the rain, and in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
The Ministry urged people to increase their seeking of forgiveness, repentance, charity, fasting, returning grievances to their owners, and maintaining family ties, in order to emphasize the promotion of noble Islamic values.
The Ministry also published a list of prayer places designated for performing the Istisqa prayer in all governorates of the Kingdom.
Istisqa prayer is a Muslim’s request to Allah - the Almighty - to send down rain when it is delayed, in order to meet the need of living beings for water. This act of worship consists of performing a special prayer and a sermon that includes supplication and seeking forgiveness.
Two rak'ahs are performed in congregation without the call to prayer or the iqama, and it is preferable to be in the prayer area. It is performed outside the times of dislike.
The preacher recommends increasing repentance, giving charity, redressing wrongs, and maintaining family ties. It is also recommended to increase seeking forgiveness, as God Almighty says:
(Then I said, “Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving.”)
