Arab Weather - After the issuance of global reports of the highest temperatures recorded on Earth on Friday 6/14/2024, weather specialists at the Arab Weather Center reported that the city of Aqaba in the south of the Kingdom ranked third on the list of the 10 highest temperatures recorded in the world after recording a maximum temperature. It reached 47.8 degrees Celsius, according to weather monitoring stations, at 4:00 p.m., and is among the first three highest temperatures recorded in the world and ranked first highest in all regions of the Kingdom.
Specialists in the climate department at the Arab Weather Center said, after returning to the climate records for recording temperatures for the month of June in the city of Aqaba, it is believed that the maximum temperature recorded for Friday in the city of Aqaba is the highest ever for the month (June) since the beginning of recording records. The climate is one of the highest temperatures recorded for the month of June, and in a related context, the city of Aqaba recorded temperatures higher on September 5, 2020 than those recorded on Friday, by 48.5 degrees Celsius.
On a related level, it is noteworthy that the Kingdom is affected by a heat wave resulting from the control of a strong air pressure in the upper layers of the atmosphere, centered in North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, which works to fuel the so-called heat dome phenomenon (which is a physical process based on the principle of self-heating of the air through a mechanism called heating under pressure. It is expected, God willing, according to the computer simulation, that the Kingdom will continue to be affected by the heat wave on Saturday, which will have more severe effects on the Jordan Valley and Aqaba due to the geographical nature of those areas.
According to weather maps, the effect of the heat wave begins to decline in the western regions of the Kingdom at the beginning of Eid, so that temperatures tend to drop slightly while remaining higher than their average for this time of the year by about 6-8 degrees Celsius, with the weather remaining hot to very hot in various regions.
God knows.
