Arab Weather - The weather forecasting staff at the Arab Weather Regional Center is following the latest updates on the impact of the cold wave that will affect the Kingdom, as this wave is expected to be one of the earliest cold waves in many years, and will continue for several days. This wave carries advanced winter characteristics, with a significant drop in temperatures, and is accompanied by an increase in atmospheric pressure values, which leads to very cold weather during the night hours.
The cold wave is expected to start affecting the Kingdom next Monday, as temperatures will drop by 4-6 degrees Celsius below their normal rates for this time of year. Cold weather will prevail in most parts of the Kingdom with scattered clouds, while northwesterly winds will be active and moderate in speed.
With the beginning of Monday/Tuesday night, there will be major changes in the weather, as temperatures will drop significantly, making the weather very cold in most areas of the Kingdom, especially in the peaks of the Sharah Mountains, parts of the eastern Badia and the eastern plains, where temperatures may reach close to zero degrees Celsius, which may lead to the formation of frost. In the rest of the regions, temperatures range between 2 and 6 degrees Celsius.
The cold weather continues on Tuesday, with temperatures remaining below their usual rates for this time of year. In the morning hours, the weather will be very cold with a chance of frost, especially in the high mountains, desert areas and plains. During the rest of the day, the weather will remain cold with a chance of light rain in some areas.
Before the cold wave arrives, experts indicate that the Kingdom is expected to witness an increase in cloud cover on Sunday afternoon, as the weather becomes partly cloudy to cloudy, with chances of quick showers in the northern and central regions, extending to the southern regions. Temperatures will also witness a slight decrease to become around their normal rates, with activity in the southwesterly winds that may reach speeds of 70 km/h, which raises dust in desert areas, especially on desert roads such as the Baghdad International Road.
Due to expectations of continued cold weather, the Arab Weather Center offers a number of recommendations to mitigate the effects of the cold wave on citizens:
Wearing heavy winter clothing, especially at night.
Focus on children's clothing to provide adequate protection from the cold.
Beware of the effect of dust and dirt on patients with respiratory diseases.
Heating crops in the plains and eastern regions and paying attention to the formation of frost.
Observe the safe use of heating devices to avoid accidents.
And God knows best.
