Jordan: All external roads are passable, except for the Al-Omari-Azraq road due to low horizontal visibility

Arab Weather - A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Aroub Al-Abadi, said, on Sunday evening, that all external roads within the jurisdiction of the ministry are passable, except for the roads in southern and eastern Jordan, which pass with great caution, especially the Al-Omari-Azraq road and the Irbid-Mafraq road, due to the formation of dust resulting from the lack of prevailing stability.

Al-Abadi added that the ministry’s cadres, in coordination with the security services, had earlier closed the Omari-Azraq road due to the low range of horizontal visibility and the Mafraq-Safawi road, due to the accumulation of silt resulting from torrential rains, according to the Kingdom Channel, which was reopened after ensuring the safety of traffic on it. , stressing that the closures that the ministry was carrying out were precautionary and temporary to ensure the safety of traffic on it.

Regarding the most prominent observations that were dealt with, Al-Abadi indicated that an accumulation of silt, dust and stones was dealt with as a result of the deviations caused by the torrential rains coming from Syria on the Mafraq-Safawi road, where the road was temporarily closed so that the mechanisms operating in the field could forget to remove the obstacles and then reopened it to Traffic, dust accumulation on roads, and oil spills on Azraq Road - due to a vehicle rollover accident, in addition to removing obstacles resulting from traffic accidents.

She indicated that the ministry dealt within 24 hours with 43 reports, coinciding with the state of air instability, stressing that the cadres of the Ministry of Public Works, in cooperation with partners working in the field, immediately responded to the observations received for emergency rooms.

She affirmed the ministry's readiness to deal with the prevailing weather conditions and to address the observations received to it 24 hours a day through its 98 teams distributed over the various governorates of the Kingdom and equipped with the necessary equipment, indicating that the ministry's cadres periodically conduct inspection tours to all regions.

She drew attention to the fact that permanent and continuous coordination is taking place with the ministry's partners to work on solving and addressing all observations immediately during the emergency plan that the ministry is working on to maintain the sustainability of services provided to citizens, in accordance with the government approach.

It called for taking the utmost care, caution, and patience while driving on external roads and following the rules of safe driving, and being aware of the danger of low horizontal visibility due to dust, and the risk of torrential rains in valleys and low-lying areas, and adhering to the directives of its cadres working in the field and the cadres of partners in the Public Security Directorate According to the information received from the Meteorological Department.
